The Anchovy police have arrested two men in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm, and several rounds of ammunition, during an operation carried out along a section of the Anchovy main road, in Anchovy, St James, on Saturday, February 27.
The identities of the two accused are being withheld pending further investigation.
Reports are that at about 1:40 pm, a team of officers attached to the St James Special Operations Team intercepted a motor vehicle that was traveling along a section of the roadway.
Both men who were traveling on board the vehicle were searched, and the weapon, a Glock 19 pistol, fitted with a magazine containing 34 live rounds was seized.
The lawmen also discovered an additional magazine that contained 17 live rounds.
The men along with the vehicle and both weapons were transported to the Freeport station.
