Jamaica Crime News, St James: Five persons were taken into custody, following the seizure of two illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition, during an operation carried out in Rosemount, St James, on Tuesday night.
The police say they are unable to release the name of the five men at this early time, as only one was arrested in connection with the seizure of the weapons.
Reports are that about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a joint military operation was carried out in Rosemount community.
During the operation, several premises were searched, including an abandoned building in a yard occupied by one of the accused.
The search resulted in the discovery of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with several live rounds, and an assault rifle along with several live rounds.
Four other men who are considered to be persons of interest were also taken into custody, and are presently being processed.
