Two Houses Gutted by Fire in Montego Bay, St James

Jamaica News, St James: Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed two board and concrete structured dwelling houses in Kings Street, Montego Bay, St James on Sunday afternoon, May 20.

Our news team has also learnt that, over eight persons have been left homeless due to damages done by the fire.

Reports are that shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, a resident from Kings Street raised an alarm after fire was seen coming from a section of the two-story seven apartment house.

The fire Department was summoned and upon arrival, they made an all-out attempt to put out the blaze.

The fire then spread to the neighboring three apartment house.  The firefighters managed to put out the blaze, but by then both houses and most of their contents were destroyed by the fire.

The Fire Fighters have reported that, two units from the Freeport Fire Department and 10 firemen responded to the alert.  They have also indicated that the origin of the fire is unknown.
