The police have arrested a man and taken into custody after a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were discovered and confiscated from him on East Street in Greenwich Town, Kingston 13 on Friday, January 3.
It is reported from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 11:32 p.m., JDF officers were on patrol in the area when they spotted a man who aroused in a suspicious manner.
He was approached, searched and one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized from his waistband. He was immediately arrested.
His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
In another incident on Friday, January 3, one .38 revolver and three rounds of ammunition was discovered and collected by the Constant Spring police on Peanut Lane in Cassava Piece, St. Andrew.
According to reports are that about 4:10 a.m., while the officers carried out an operation in the area a premises was searched and the firearm and ammunition were found in the backyard in a plastic bag. No one was arrested and taken into the lock-up in connection with the seizure.
The police are investigating.
