Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Gunman Shot, Two Firearms Seized in St James: The St James police are stating that a 23-yr-old male student challenged members of a team of officers while they were on patrol in the community of Glendevon, St. James.

The student, who engaged the police officers in a shootout on Tuesday (August 15, 2017) morning, was shot and seriously injured and an illegal firearm taken from him. Another man from the same address was also arrested and charged when he was also found in possession of another illegal firearm at the same venue.

Reports by the police are that about 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday (August 16, 2017) a team of officers were on patrol duty in the Glendevon community. On reaching a section of the area known as Coke Road they came upon a large gathering and loud music being played. When the police approached the gathering, the alleged gunman who was later identified as a student of the said address, ran and the lawmen gave chase.

The gunman then reportedly brandished a firearm and fired several shots at the police. The fire was returned and during the shooting the accused was shot and seriously wounded.

Firearms Seized: A Glock 30 semi automatic 9mm pistol, with serial number CKV144, loaded with four live .45 rounds was taken from him. The lawmen then carried out a search of several other men and another accused, a 25-yr-old Chef also of Coke Road was found to be carrying a Taurus 9mm semiautomatic pistol containing 12 live rounds. He was taken into custody and charged with Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition while the wounded gunman was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital and admitted in serious condition.

He was charged with shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
