Two of Three Armed Robbers Shot and Injured by Off-Duty Cop in Westmoreland Robbery Attempt

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: Armed Robbers Shot  – The Jamaica Constable Force High Command is now commending the bravery of Constable Patroy Gayle, attached to the Area One Technical Services Division, who single-handedly foiled a robbery attempt on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, where he shot and injured two of the robbers.

The police have also reported that one of the robbers is presently on the run, while Constable Gayle was injured during the incident which occurred in Hartford district, Westmoreland.

Reports are that on Tuesday morning about 2:15 ba.m., the three armed men went to a bar in Hatfield district, where they held up the operator and robbed him of cash and three slot machines.

While in the process of making their escape, Constable Gayle who was off-duty at the time was in the area and informed of the robbery.

He immediately drove to the location and chased all three robbers in his private vehicle. During the chase, the gunmen opened fire at the brave officer who returned the fire, during what time, two of the robbers were shot and injured.

The injured robber who was driving the vehicle, lost control and the car crashed into a wall. Constable Gayle who was traveling close behind the gunmen also lost control of the vehicle, which also crashed.

One of the gunmen jumped from the car and escape in bushes. Residents in the community rushed to the assistance of the injured officers and held on to both injured robbers.

Other officers were called to the scene and upon their arrival, Constable Gayle who suffered a broken foot, and the two injured robbers were rushed to the Savanna-la-mar hospital, where he was treated and admitted and the gunmen also admitted under police guard.
