Jamaica News, Westmoreland: 35-year-old David Bailey, a truck driver of Smithfield district in Westmoreland, lost his life in a two-vehicle collision which occurred along a section of the Smithfield main road about 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 26.
The driver of the other vehicle who has been identified as, Daniel Maxwell, also of a Westmoreland address, sustained injuries and was transported to the Savanna-la-mar hospital, where he was treated and admitted in serious condition.
Reports by the Westmoreland police are that in the wee hours of Saturday morning, both men were traveling in separate vehicles while traveling along the Smithfield main road.
On reaching a section of the roadway, both vehicles were involved in a head-on crash, which resulted in both men sustaining head and body injuries.
The police were summoned, and both Bailey and Maxwell were rushed to the Savannah la mar hospital, where Bailey was pronounced dead, and Maxwell admitted in serious condition.
