Kingston, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Mckoy’s News received regrettable news that Deneese Wright, gospel singer and radio host of “Love in the Morning and Recharge on LOVE 101 FM” of Jamaican gospel radio station Love 101 FM, died on Thursday May 11, 2017 after a short illness.
On the morning of April 11, 2017 the vibrant Deneese Wright, affectionately called ‘Den Den’ and ‘Jesus Girl’ complained of feeling dizzy, following headaches a week earlier. Deneese was taken to University Hospital of the West Indies in St Andrew, where she was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, and aggressive brain cancer.
Treatment of the brain cancer would require surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Her brother in Canada launched a Gofundme account to raise US$100,000 for her treatment but she died one month after she was taken to the hospital.
Deneese loved her job at Love 101 FM, she loved to minster through music, she loved her listeners and looked forward to doing God’s work daily.
Wright, also a minister of songs was a finalist in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commision’s Gospel Song 2012 Competition. Deneese Write songs included I Love You, I Belong To You and No Condemnation.
She also had a major role in the film Just Another Friday.
The 46-year-old, Deneese was a member of the Fellowship Tabernacle Church, pastored by the Reverend Dr Merrick Al Miller. She ministered in the drama and praise and worship ministries.
Write is survived by her Father David Write, brother and sister.
