Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: Two men are now in police custody, following the seizure of three illegal firearms, which includes two high-powered rifles, which were seized during an operation carried out along a section of Kerry Park community, on Tuesday, January 15.
The names of both accused are being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the police are that about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a team of officers were carrying out an operation along a section of Kerry Park main road, when they intercepted a motor car with two men on board.
The lawmen carried out a search of the vehicle and both occupants. The search resulted in the seizure of a Beretta 9-mm semi-automatic pistol, fitted with a magazine containing seven live rounds.
Both men were brought to their homes and a search carried out of each premises. During the search of one premises, the lawmen discovered an AK-47 assault rifle and an M-16 rifle along with (52) 5.6 rounds.
Both men were then transported to the Freeport lockup.
