Trelawny, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Trelawny Municipal Police Shot: A 24-yr-old man who is currently employed to the Trelawny Municipal Corporation as a Municipal Police was shot by a masked man at the Berwood Beach compound in the parish on Wednesday, July 26th 2017. He has been admitted to the Falmouth Hospital.
Reports reaching our newsroom are that at approximately 4:30 p.m. the injured Municipal police was on duty at the beach compound, when he was confronted by a masked gunman who climbed over a wall at the rear of the compound which is owned by the Trelawny Corporation.
The officer ran in a bid to save his life but was eventually shot by the gunman who fired several times at him.
Following the incident, the Falmouth police have indicated that they will be joining forces with the Trelawny Municipal Corporation to put in place more efficient security measures at the public beach. The police also indicated that patrols will now be dispatched in that area on a frequent basis and the Municipal Corporation will double their security detail.
A source at the Falmouth police station told our news team that the police will now be working closely with the Mayor of Trelawny, His Worship Collin Gauger and the administrative team at the Municipal Corporation to enforce stronger security measures and ensure that these security measures are carried out at the Berwood Beach.
No motive has been established for the shooting and the Falmouth police are continuing their investigations.
