Trelawny Man Who Held Members of a Search Party at Gunpoint, Charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition

Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: The Trelawny police have confirmed that a man who was among a group of other men, who held members of a search party at gunpoint, has now been arrested, and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

According to the police, during the course of last week residents joined up with officers from St James and Trelawny police, in search of a Jamaican born, American-based entertainer, 35-year-old Kemar McPherson, who hails from Bottom Pen, in Glendevon, and went missing in Montego Bay, on June 15.

Members of a search team went to a hilly area in the parish of Trelawny, where they were held at gunpoint by a group of armed men.

They were questioned as to what they were doing at the location and after explaining to the armed men that they were searching for the missing entertainer, they later walked away.

The police received a backup team and they revisited the location where the search party had the encounter with the gunmen, earlier that day.

A search of the area led to the accused man being positively identified as one of the men who held them at gunpoint. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

In the meanwhile, McPherson who still has not been found, had just recently released a hit single in the USA. called “Summer Time”, and the song is said to be creating waves on the local and international market.

Relatives of the missing entertainer say, on the day of his disappearance, he informed them that he was supposed to link up with his girlfriend, who was supposed to take him to rent a motor car, to do some business.

Since then the police have been following a trail of evidence, which shows that McPherson may have been lured to the parish of Trelawny, and then killed.

A missing person’s report was also released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Constabulary Communication Network (CCU) stated that McPherson is of brown complexion, slim built, with tattoos on both upper arms.

According to CCU, the entertainer was last seen leaving his home wearing a was a dark green T-shirt, blue jeans pants, and a pair of white sneakers.
