Jamaica News: Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Desmond McKenzie, says the Trelawny Infirmary will be outfitted with an industrial washing machine and dryer to better meet the needs of the facility, which serves 60 residents.

“The old machines at the infirmary are not suited for a facility like this one. The Ministry will provide a brand-new industrial washing machine and dryer for the infirmary. We want to ensure that the workers are in a position to do their jobs. They have a lot of washing to do, and many of these machines are old machines,” he said.

Minister McKenzie was speaking during a visit to the infirmary located in Falmouth on Friday (November 16), as part of Local Government and Community Development Month activities.

He underscored that the Administration is committed to bringing all the infirmaries across the island to first-class status over the next year, starting with the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all the facilities.

Matron of the Trelawny Infirmary, Ity Myles Vickers, said she was pleased with the Minister’s visit and is looking forward to the new washing machine and dryer.

Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Colin Gager and the staff of the Trelawny Municipal Corporation, accompanied the Minister on the visit, where they engaged with the residents of the infirmary and participated in cleaning activities.
