Track Athlete Kavon Nelson Shot and Killed in Kingston

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: Track Athlete Kavon Nelson Shot  The Kingston police say they have now launched a full investigation surrounding the shooting death of a prominent Track and Field athlete, in the parish on Tuesday morning,  September 19.

The dead athlete has been identified as Kavon Nelson,  25-year-old track star and former Calabar High Student,  who resided at McVille Terrace in Kingston 19th.

Reports by the police are that about 12:30 a.m., Nelson was at home with other family members when armed men forced their way inside the house.

The gunmen opened fire hitting Nelson to the regions of his upper body.

The police were summoned and upon arrival,  the wounded athlete was rushing to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nelson is said to have been very dominant on the tracks and was an active member of the AKON Track Club.

He also represented Jamaica at the National level as part of the NACAC Under-23 championship team in the year 2014.
