Three Nicaraguan Nationals Held in St Elizabeth Found Guilty of Illegal Entry

Jamaica Crime News, St Elizabeth: Three Nicaraguan nationals who appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Monday, May 13, on charges of illegal entry into the island, were each fined $24,000 and ordered to be deported back to Nicaragua.

The presiding Judge also ruled that if the fine were not paid, each of the accused were to serve a maximum time of ten days in prison.

The men have been identified as 36-year-old Carlos Navarro, 28-year-old Kenroy Evans and 42-year-old Jose Ramos, all fishermen of Nicaragua.

Reports by the Black River police are that about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, a team of officers carried out an operation at a section of Treasure Beach.

During the operation, all three men were spotted, attending to a large speed boat and they were taken into custody. A further search of the boat led to the seizure of two large boat engines and fifteen barrels of fuel.
