Jamaica Crime News, St James: Despite the State of Public Emergency in the parish of St James, gunmen continue to decimate the parish by slowly killing one resident after another.
Residents within the parish of St James are now expressing shock at the recent rise in murders in the parish, despite the State of Emergency.
Three persons have been brutally murdered by gunmen over the past five days at various locations in St James.
One female was shot and killed in the middle of downtown Montego Bay, another man shot and killed in Paradise Norwood and a third victim murdered in John’s Hall.
These latest murders have taken the total of persons killed in St James since the start of the year to thirty-three (33).
More than twenty persons have been reported murdered under the State of Emergency in St James since February of this year and residents are now asking the question. How effective is the State of Emergency since it has been imposed in St James?
A total of twenty-five (25) persons being murdered in three months under the State of Emergency is a large number and residents within the city of Montego Bay say they are now calling on the security forces and the police to apply more of their presence to the inner-city communities.
