The Browns Town Police in St. Ann charged a 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old
Demaro Palmer with House Breaking, Shop Breaking and Larceny, and Malicious Destruction of
Property following over ten cases of reported break-ins in Browns Town, St. Ann between July 11
and 12. They have been charged for three cases already with more than seven outstanding.
Reports are that, the complainants securely locked their business places and left when Palmer and
the 17-year-old broke in and stole several items. In one incident, on Church Street in the parish,
Palmer and the 17-year-old broke into a store room and stole one 48” television valued at
JMD$55,000.00 and one LG home theatre system valued $20,000.00 then left.
Meanwhile, in another incident, the two broke into a shop in the Browns Town market and stole
items valued at over JMD 20,000.
Additionally, in a third incident, they broke into an unoccupied four-bedroom house where they
have been storing the stolen items. Several reports were made to the Police and an investigation
launched. An operation was carried out on Monday, July 13 when Palmer and the other teen were
arrested after the house they were occupying was searched and several stolen recovered. They
were subsequently charged on Monday, July 20.
Their court dates are being finalised.
Reports are that on Monday, August 3 about 6:00 p.m., Barrett was walking along the roadway
when he was approached by Smith who opened gunfire hitting him in the head. Barrett later died
On Saturday, July 04, Smith was apprehended and subsequently charged with Murder after he was
pointed out in an identification parade.
His court date is being finalised.
