Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: The Inspectorate of Constabulary and a team attached to the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM), are now carrying out investigations surrounding the fatal shooting of a teenager in Kingston on Thursday night, October 18.
The deceased who reportedly pointed an imitation firearm at the police, has been identified as 18-year-old Renardo Powell, of Chancery Lane, also in Kingston.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, a team of officers were carrying out patrols duties along sections of Marycaux Road in Kingston, when they saw the accused acting in a suspicious manner.
He was approached and he reportedly pointed a firearm in the directions of the police.
The lawmen opened fire, hitting Powell to his upper body and died on the spot.
The scene was processed and an imitation firearm recovered from the slain teenager.
