Teenager Caught with Illegal Gun in Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: An 18-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm in Westmoreland on Wednesday, December 12.

The accused who has been identified as Romaine Beckford, has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Reports by the Savanna-la-mar police are that about 11:45 a.m., on Wednesday, a team of officers held the teenager and questioned him in connection with a number of crimes being committed in Chantilly district.

It is further reported that, Beckford who hails from the said community, took the lawmen to a house where they carried out a search.

During the search,  the lawmen found a Smith and Wesson  .340 High Point pistol, fitted with a magazine containing three live  .40 rounds of ammunition.

Beckford was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
