Teenager Caught with Illegal Firearm in Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: A 17-year-old boy was arrested by the Westmoreland police in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm in Darliston community on Friday, October 12.

The name of the accused is being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports by the police are that about 2:00 p.m., a team of officers carried out an operation at a section of Darliston community.

During the operation, the teen was seen at a premises and a search carried out of his person and the surroundings.

The lawmen discovered a  9 mm Luger pistol, loaded with thirteen live rounds.

A further search of the area led to the discovery of an additional 33 live 9mm rounds.

The teenager was immediately taken into custody.
