There is now controversy surrounding the death of a teenage girl, who is alleged to have died by drowning in a section of the Rio Minho River, in Clarendon, on Monday afternoon.
She has been identified as 18-year-old Samoya Cameron, a student of Race Course district, also in Clarendon.
Reports by the police are that about 5:30 p.m., Samoya who had gone to spend time with other relatives in the neighboring community of Canaan Heights, allegedly went to the river with some of her relatives.
She allegedly went for a swim, but while in the water she met into difficulties, and allegedly drowned.
The police were summoned and upon arriving at the scene, the teenager’s body was removed to the morgue for a post mortem examination.
Following her death, her mother called on the police to dig further in their investigations, because the reports she got from family members over her daughters alleged, drowning were conflicting.
