Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: A teenage boy is now being questioned by the Portmore Police, in connection with the accidental shooting death of a 15-year-old, Kingston College student, while playing with a loaded licensed firearm, in Portmore, St Catherine,  on Wednesday, October 10.

The dead Kingston College student has been identified as Daniel Ray of a Salt Pond address, also in St Catherine.

Reports by the Portmore Police are that about 3:30 p.m., Daniel and the other teen were reportedly playing with a licensed firearm when the weapon accidentally went off and shot Daniel in his head.

The police were summoned, and upon arrival, Daniel was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Our new team learned that the weapon is owned by a relative of the teen who is now in police custody.  It is also stated that he and Daniel are very close friends,  and the KC student went to his home to visit him when the tragedy occurred.

In the meanwhile, students and teachers at Kingston College say they are still traumatized at the news of Daniel’s death.

Daniel Wray was a very hardworking and dedicated fifth former, who is missed by all.
