Jamaica Crime News, Manchester: A taxi operator is now nursing gunshot wounds at hospital in serious condition after he was shot and injured by two armed men posing as passengers, along a section of Manchester Road on Tuesday, October 2.
Reports by the Mandeville police are that about 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the taxi operator was transporting passengers from Mandeville Town to Knockpatrick.
On reaching a section of the roadway, he picked up two other male passengers.
As soon as they reached a section of the Manchester Road, the men brandished handguns and held the driver and two other passengers at gunpoint.
The driver reframed from handing over his money and kept on driving. He then crashed the vehicle in a concrete post which was erected along the roadway.
Immediately as the vehicle crashed, the other passengers ran in various directions, but before the driver could do same, he was shot by the armed robbers.
Both gunmen fled the scene on foot, while the police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded taxi operator was transported to hospital where he was admitted.
