Taxi Operator Killed in Downtown Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Taxi Operator Killed: A popular Montego Bay taxi operator was gunned down by one of two gunmen in the downtown area of the second city on Wednesday morning.

Dead is Montgomery Lewis, otherwise called  “Indian”, 31 year- old taxi operator of Felicity Road, ( Blood Lane ) in Glendevon, St James.

Reports are that, shortly after 2:00 am on Wednesday, October 25, Lewis was sitting in his white Toyota Corolla motor car, which he operates as a taxi from a section of St James Street and William Street in Montego Bay, know as Gully Bus Stop. He was approached by two men, one of whom
brandished a handgun, walked up to the vehicle and shot Lewis several times. Lewis attempted to run but fell beside his car on the roadway while the gunman made his escape on foot in the area.

The Freeport police were summoned and upon their arrival, the wounded taxi operator was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Lewis is the second taxi operator to be murdered in Montego Bay in the past three days, and the seventh person to be shot and killed within downtown Montego Bay in the past fifteen days.
