Clarendon Gunmen-Police Shootout,1 Gunman Dead, Firearms Seized

Clarendon, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) Clarendon Gunmen-Police Shootout: An unidentified gunman was shot and killed and two illegal firearms seized after gunmen challenged the police in a shootout along a section of Hazard Road in Clarendon on Wednesday afternoon May 17, 2017.

The Clarendon police say they are now asking members of the public for their assistance in identifying the slain gunman.

Reports are that, shortly after 4:00 pm on Wednesday,  a team of police officers were carrying out patrols along Hazard Road when they notice a group of men standing in the vicinity of the train line.

On seeing the police, the men brandished high powered weapons and open fire at the lawmen. A heated gun-battle ensued which resulted in one of the men been shot and killed.

The other gunmen fled the scene and escaped in nearby. Bushes.

Following a search of the scene the police discovered an AK-47 assault rifle and the dead gunman was seen clutching a Taurus 9mm semi automatic pistol with a magazine containing several live 9mm rounds.

The police who are now combing sections of the area for the remaining gunmen say they believed that the men are part of a gang that are behind a number of armed robberies. Shootings and murders in and around the parish.
