SUCCESSFUL DAY AT THE POLLS ON NOMINATION DAY IN EAST PORTLAND

Both the People’s National Party and the ruling Jamaica Labor Party reported of having a successful and incident-free day at the polls on Nomination Day in East Portland, on Friday morning, March 15.

The day’s event started with a minor glitch when a small crowd of JLP supporters attempted to pass along the same stretch of roadway where the PNP supporters were awaiting the arrival of their candidate along Allan Street.

The incident almost turned physical, but swift actions by the police brought back calm to the area.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m., the crowd was sent in an uproar as PNP party candidate for East Portland, Damion Crawford arrived on the scene in the company of the People’s National Party President, Dr. Peter Phillips, to cast his vote.

Then about two hours later the Jamaica Labor Party candidate Ann Marie Vaz, arrived outside the Port Antonio Court House to cast her vote. The Jamaica Labor Party supporters were sent in a frenzy upon seeing Mrs. Vaz arriving as a pillion on a motorcycle been driven by her husband, Daryl Vaz, who is also the sitting member of Parliament for West Portland.
