Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Students Without IDs: Prime Minister Andrew Holiness told reporters that starting Monday, September 4, 2017, students without identification cards will be allowed to enter and exit the Zone of Operations but this will only last for the next seven days.
The Prime Minister who was speaking at a press conference held on Sunday at the Western Region Office of the Prime Minister also informed media representatives that this includes all high school students.
For the next seven days, students in uniforms will be allowed these privileges. After the first week of school, all students must have identification cards. He further stated that in order to facilitate the search operation in the Zone of Special Operations, parents within the Zone should send out children a little early to ensure that they arrive at school on time, although the security forces are not expecting lengthy delays at exit and entry points.
The PM pointed out that police and soldiers have the authority to look out for truants and play a supporting role in getting them back in school.
