Student Crushed By JUTC Bus  


Jamaica News, Kingston: The Caymanas Police have now launched an investigation into a freak accident involving a JUTC Bus and which resulted in the death of a male student along a  section of Gregory Park Road in Kingston on Friday morning, June 15, 2018.

The police say they will be releasing the name of the dead student at a later date, however,  the investigators confirmed that he’s about 10 or 12 years old.

Reports are that shortly after 7:20 a.m. on Friday, the boy and other students boarded a 3A-Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus which plies the Christian Gardens, Portmore and Half Way Tree routes.

On reaching a section of the Gregory Park road, the student who was reportedly standing close to the rear door of the bus lost his balance and fell out.  He fell onto the roadway and was run over by the rear wheel of the bus.

The wounded student was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, the police were summoned, the scene was processed and the driver of the bus warned for prosecution.
