Jamaica News, March 19, 2018 – State of Emergency Imposed in St Catherine North

St Catherine, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Over the past years, the St Catherine North police division have accounted for a large amount of the murders and shootings which have been recorded throughout the island of Jamaica.  As part of an approach to stem crime, the Prime Minister of Jamaica imposed a State of Emergency in the area on Saturday March 17, 2018.

The joint military forces will carry out patrols, searches and border-checks at points throughout relevant areas such as Spanish Town, Bog Walk, Linstead and other communities around the police division. Our news team also learnt that one of the main focus points by the military will be the inner parts of Spanish Town, especially in the regions of the bus park which has seen a number of murders, shootings and lawlessness over a period of time.

Since the start of the year a total of 50 murders have been recorded in St Catherine, when compared to 136 being recorded throughout the year 2017. Also a total of 35 cases of shootings has already been recorded in comparison to a total of 137 at the end of 2017.
