St James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – State of Emergency Update: the Joint Security forces have indicated that since the State of Emergency was imposed on the parish of St James three weeks ago, a total of 18 persons have been officially charged and dragged before the Court.
The police have now pointed out that of the 18 persons charged, a number of them are facing the Court on charges ranging from murder, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, shooting with intent and involvement on the lottery scamming among other criminals charges.
The police also reported that a number of 15 other persons are present at the Freeport lockup and are waiting to be slapped with similar criminal charges during the course of this week.
Since the start of the State of Emergency in the parish of St James over 500 persons have been taken into custody.
A number of these persons have been processed and released while a total of over 200 detainees are still been held at the Freeport lockup.
State of Emergency Update: the police also stated that they are using this Initiative to ensure that person’s residing in a number of these hot zones or who are known to be involved in criminal activities are picked up and processed, and based on the results of their investigations these persons will be dealt with according to the law.
