St Thomas: Masked Man Killed in Attempted Robbery, three injured

St Thomas, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Masked Man Killed in Attempted Robbery: A man who was dressed in a hoodie and facial mask was killed during a robbery attempt in Rowlandsfield, St Thomas last (Saturday, December 2, 2017) night.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Ronald Frater, a farmer of the same community. Three other persons were also shot and injured.




Reports are that about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, a truck driver was at a shop in Rowlandsfield transacting business when two men armed with guns proceeded to rob him. During the robbery, the truck driver and another bystander was shot and injured.

The two robbers were allegedly challenged by men who were playing dominoes in the area. The men allegedly disarmed and shot them, killing Frater on the spot.

The other three people who received gunshot injuries were taken to hospital for treatment.

Two firearms relating to the incident were seized by the police. Frater had been reporting to the Golden Grove Police Station as part of the conditions for bail after he was charged for illegal possession of firearm, burglary and rape. The case is currently before the Portland Circuit Court.
