St Thomas Hit and Run Driver Charged With Death of 2-year-old Granted $1-Million Bail

Jamaica Crime News, St Thomas: The St Thomas man who was charged in connection with the hit-and-run accident which claimed the life of 2-year-old Sasha Gaye Dennis, on April 23 in Montego Bay, St James, was granted bail in the sum of $1-million, when he appeared in the St James parish court a few days ago.

The accused  21-year-old Max Desouza, student who resides at Sunning Hill, in St Thomas, was represented by lawyer Martyn Thomas and ordered to return to court on July 18.

He was issued bail with two or three surities and to report to the St Thomas police several days each week.

Investigators in Montego Bay, say Desouza has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

On april 23, two-year-old Sasha Gaye, her three siblings and her mother were coming from the beach along the Howard Cooke Boulevard in Montego Bay, when she was mowed down by Desouza who sped away from the scene.

The accused turned himself over to the St Thomas police a day after.
