Jamaica News: A St Mary resident is the first person to be killed in Portland, since the start of the year.
He has been identified as 45-year-old, Jason Pendley, a laborer of Tower Isle, also in St Mary.
Reports by the Portland police are that about 11:00 p.m., on Friday, March 27, Pendley and friend went to a section of the parish know as Blue Berry Hill, near Buff Bay, to visit a friend. While in the community, they were ambushed by men armed with handguns, who opened fire at them.
Pendley was shot in the regions of his head, while his friend was shot in the regions of his arm.
The gunmen escaped in the area on foot, while the police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the scene was processed and the victims transported to a hospital, where Pendley was pronounced dead, and his friend admitted in stable condition.
