St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s New) – One man was taken into custody and charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm in St James, on Monday morning, April 17.

The police say they are unable to release the name of the accused at this time because he may have to face a series of identification parades.

Reports by the Freeport police are that shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, a team of officers attached to the St James Proactive Investigation Unit (PIU), carried out an operation along the Reading main road in St James.

During the operation, the accused was seen driving a white Toyota Corolla motor car and he was signaled to stop. He complied and during a search of the vehicle, the lawmen discovered the illegal firearm, a .32 pistol loaded with several live rounds hidden in the console.
