Jamaican News – December 27, 2017

St. James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – St James Jamaica Murder Rate: over the past six days, a total of four persons were shot and killed by gunmen in the parish of St James, sending the total number of persons murdered in the parish since the start of 2017 to 326.

Of the four persons murdered in the past few days, three of the victims were gunned down in the community of Mount Carey and the fourth in the Salt Spring area.

A number of the police stations in St James are now short-staffed and this has hampered the movement of the police around some volatile communities.

Unlike the year 2016, when St James recorder 269 murders in total, the parish now seems poised to a record-breaking tally for 2017, with three days still remaining in the year.

Also, several residents are now expressing fear, based on the reduced police presence, with much lesser police seen on patrol duties, including highway and foot patrols duties.
