A  St James higgler and a Construction worker who hails from St Catherine,  have now been officially charged after they were both found in possession of a quantity of Cocaine,  at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Sunday, July 29th.
Miriam Thompson, 58-year-old,  Higgler of Norwood in St James and Edson Berry, 56-year-old, a Construction worker of Portmore in St Catherine, have both been charged jointly with Importing Cocaine,  Possession of Cocaine and Dealing in Cocaine.
Both accused are booked to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew parish Court on Wednesday, August 8th.
Reports by the Narcotics Police are that about 4:00 am, on Sunday, July 29th, Berry and Thompson arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport on a flight from Guyana.
Upon reaching the security checkpoint they were screened and discovered that they were carrying suspicious objects in their stomachs.
Both accused were taken to a hospital, where Berry passed out 68 homemade capsules weighing approximately 2 pounds, and Thompson passed out 71 capsules weighing little over 2 pounds.
They were both taken into custody and subsequently charged.
The Jamaica music fraternity was plunged into mourning after the passing of “Carrot” formerly of world renowned group Third World.
