St James Escaped Prisoner Killed During Shootout with Police in St Ann

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) have commenced a probe into the fatal shooting of a prisoner who escaped custody at the Montego Bay lockup in St James, and was shot and killed during a confrontation with the police in St Ann, on Sunday, March 20.

The escapee has been identified as 29-year-old Ainsley Woodburn, a farmer of Belmont district also in St James.

Reports are that about 3:45 pm, a team of officers acted on information and went to a premises at Huntley Drive in Bellaire Meadows, St Ann where they were greeted by gunfire by Woodburn and other armed men.,

The fire was returned, resulting in Woodburn being fatally shot, and a Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven 9mm cartridges taken from him.
