Jamaica News, February 28, 2018 – St James Enhanced Security Measures

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – After touring sections of Montego Bay in St James (which are under the Enhanced Security Measures), the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Robert Montague said it is now time to move in with Phase Two of the Operation, which is the Social Intervention Programmes.

According to Minister Montague, the Enhanced Security Measures (State of Emergency) will not last forever, in fact, they come to an end on May 2, 2018. However, what it has done is to create a window to allow the Social Intervention Agencies an opportunity to do what they need to do.

This will be done so that they can reinstitute the local governance structure in the various communities and allow the people to take charge of the day-to-day running of their lives. The Minister pointed out that, the Municipal Corporation, the Social Development Commission along with the Ministry of Social Security and other vital Intervention Agencies will all play a part of the Social Intervention Period.  This venture, he said, was made possible by the joint Security forces which have now stabilized the communities.
