St Elizabeth Police Probing Fire which Claimed the Life of Elderly Woman and Her 3-year-old Grandchild

Latest Jamaica News, St Elizabeth: The St Elizabeth police are probing the circumstances surrounding a fire which claimed the life of an elderly woman, and an infant, at their home in Santa Cruz on Saturday.

Dead are 64-year-old Perley Heath and 3-year-old Shequan Ennis, both of Leads district, in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.

Reports by the Santa Cruz police are that about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, the elderly woman and the child were at home when it is alleged that a gas cylinder exploded, and the house caught fire.

Residents living in the area summoned the fire department and the police rushed to the scene.

The firemen managed to extinguished the fire sometime later and following a search of the rubbles, they discovered the charred remains of the elderly woman and the infant underneath the burnt debris.
