Two men whose identities are being withheld were arrested in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm, and one round of ammunition in the parish of St Elizabeth, on Friday, February 1st.

Reports by the Balaclava police are that about 12:30 p.m., on Friday,  a team of officers was carrying out vehicular spot checks along a section of the Paradise main road, when they saw two men travelling on a motorcycle.

The police signaled the rider to stop and he complied.

A search was carried out of both men, which resulted in the seizure of a Smith and Wesson pistol, loaded with one live round.

Both men were taken into custody and will be subsequently charged.
