A 32-year-old, farmer, who resides in the parish of St Elizabeth, died from injuries he received, on Saturday afternoon, November 1st, after he reportedly jumped from a window of his house, with the intention of eluding a police party who was carrying out an operation in the community.
He has been identified as Leroy Reid, who resides at Providence district in St Elizabeth.
Reports by the New Market police are that shortly after 12:30 p.m., Reid was inside his house when he saw a team of officers carrying out an operation in the community.
Upon seeing the lawmen approaching his house, Reid reportedly went to a window at the rear of the premises and jumped several feet below in a gully which stretches behind the house.
Reid fell on several rocks below and sustained head and body injuries. He was transported to the hospital, where he died whilst being treated.
