Latest Jamaica News, St James (McKoy’s News): Shoe Vendors Robbed at Gunpoint in Coral Gardens – The Coral Gardens police have commenced an investigation into an incident which occurred in the community earlier this week, where two shoe vendors who hail from St Catherine were held up at gunpoint and robbed of cash, cellphones and over 700 pairs of assorted shoes.
Reports are that the two vendors who conduct house to house sale drove to a section of Windsor Avenue in Coral Gardens, St James, to deliver shoes to some customers.
They stopped outside a premises to deliver items to a customer, when three men traveling onboard a Toyota Axio motor car pulled up behind them.
The men brandished handguns and proceeded to rob them of cash, cell phones and a Toyota Hiace minibus containing over 700 pairs of shoes.
One of the gunmen inflicted a blow to the face of the male vendor, before they sped away from the scene in the stolen bus and their own vehicle.
A report was immediately made to the police who carried out a search of the entire community, and later found the bus abandoned at a section of the area.
It was also observed that most of the shoes were stolen from the vehicle, which was also damaged.
The lawmen have since launched a search for the armed robbers who are said to be behind a number of robberies that are being committed in and around the Coral Gardens area.
