Jamaica Crime News: One police source told our news team that, a sales rep who resides in St Catherine was taken into custody after an investigation revealed that the container in which the illegal firearms and ammunition were discovered, was shipped in his name.

It is also disclosed that documents also revealed that his Tax Registration Number (TRN), was also used to ship the container. He was picked up on Tuesday then questioned in the presence of his lawyer, and later released.

Reports are that about 10:30 a.m., teams from the Customs and Contraband Units were processing a container when irregularities were detected.

A further search led to the discovery of four high powered rifles, one submachine gun, nine semi-automatic pistols and six revolvers.

A quantity of 791 assorted rounds of ammunition was also seized.

The weapons were said to have been shipped from a destination in the USA to Jamaica.
