Jamaica News, April 16, 2018 – St Ann Robot Taxi Operator Shot                                

 St Ann, Jamaica (McKoy’s New) – A 39-year-old robot taxi operator who hails from the parish of St Ann, is now in serious condition at the St Ann’s Bay hospital, after he was shot and seriously injured by one of three gunmen during a robbery on Friday night, April 13.

Reports by the St Ann police are that about 10:30 p.m., the victim who hails from Wood Park was traveling with a female passenger in the vehicle, when he stopped and picked up three other male passengers who went in the back of the vehicle.

On reaching a section of the roadway in Pineapple in the vicinity of Miss T Restaurant, the men asked for a stop. The driver complied, and as the men were in the process of alighting from the vehicle, they brandished handguns and held the driver at gunpoint.

The driver reached out and grab hold of one of the men and the gunman opened fire hitting him to his upper body. The gunmen then escaped in the area on foot.

The police were alerted and upon arrival, the wounded robot taxi operator was transported to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
