St. Ann Charged in Connection with the Seizure of an Illegal Firearm

One man has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm, and two rounds of ammunition, in the parish of St Ann, on Saturday, December 29th.
He has been identified as 29-year-old, Garfield Thomas,  laborer of Beach Road in the parish.
Reports by the police are that about 6:30 p.m., on Saturday, a team of officers was carrying out patrol duties along a section of Priory main road, when they saw Thomas acting in a suspicious manner.
Upon seeing the lawmen approaching, he hurried inside a bar and dropped the weapon, which was retrieved,  and turned out to be a 9-mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with two live rounds.
The accused man was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
