St Andrew Music Manager Shot and Injured by Police in Montego Bay

Latest Jamaica News, Montego Bay (McKoy’s News): St Andrew Music Manager Shot  – Twenty-seven-year-old Junior Nelson, otherwise called “Theo” a music manager of Cherry Gardens, St Andrew, was shot and injured, after he reportedly pointed a firearm at a plainclothes police officer in Montego Bay, St James, on Tuesday, September 10.

Reports by the police are that on Tuesday morning, the police officer and a group of female friends were standing at the intersection of Corniche Avenue and Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay, when an argument developed between one of the female and Nelson who was passing in his motor car.

It is further reported that he brandished a firearm and pointed it at the police officer and threatened him. The officer pulled his service weapon and fired one shot hitting Nelson to the regions of his arm.

Nelson sped away and the officer jumped into his private vehicle and gave chase. He caught up with Nelson at a section of downtown Montego Bay, and drove the injured man in his own vehicle to Cornwall Regional Hospital.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a Glock 22 pistol, with a magazine containing eight rounds.

Following the incident, the police say they are unable to confirm if Nelson is a licensed firearm holder, or if he will be criminally charged in connection with the incident.
