Jamaica News: The police in St Catherine have confirmed that a special team of investigators has now commenced a probe into the circumstances surrounding an incident,  where the 5-year-old son of a female cop is allegedly to have shot himself with his mother’s gun, on Saturday,  August 17th.

The deceased infant has been identified as Vernard McCarty Salmon, 5-year-old, of a Portmore address also in St Catherine.

Reports by the Portmore Police are that about 11:00 am, on Saturday,  residents living at a section of Portmore known as Monza Sector, reported hearing gunshots and went to investigate.

Upon investigating they discovered the child of the female cop, suffering from gunshot wounds.

It is still not clear if the mother was present at the time of the incident, or if it took place at their family home,  but our news team learned that the wounded child was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It has also been reported that the child somehow got a hold of his mother’s licensed firearm and was playing with the weapon, when it went off,  and accidentally shot him to death.
