Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: The Spanish Town police in St Catherine says they are still have not been able to question the father and mother of a 6-year-old boy, whose body was fished from a pit in the community of Gordon Pen, because they have not been able to locate them.
According to the police, 6-year-old Leroy Mayne, otherwise called ” boy boy”, who attended the Primrose Basic School, went missing from his home on Saturday night.
A search was carried out for Leroy, during the night over into the morning, but with little success.
About 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, residents in the community discovered the child’s body, which was floating in a pit which contained water.
The pit was located in close proximity to his home at a section of the community known as Gulf. The police were summoned, and the child’s body was fished from the pit. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police say they are now carrying out an investigation into the incident, and also a team attached to the Child Welfare Department are probing the matter to determine if “Child Neglect” is involved.
