Jamaica Crime News, St James: Somerton Double Murder – A 6-year old boy and a man were shot and killed by armed men while traveling on a motorcycle in Somerton district in St James, on Monday, March 5.

The deceased child has been identified as Jordan Hodges, a student of Somerton All Age and Infant School in Somerton District, and the other victim Quwayne Hemmings, otherwise called “soljie”, laborer of the said address.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Monday, young Jordan and his 15-year-old sister were coming from school when they saw their neighbour Hemmings, who was traveling home on his motorcycle.

Hemmings stopped and gave both children a lift, and placed Jordan as a front pillion and his elder sister as a back pillion.

On reaching a section of the roadway, the motorcycle was intercepted by armed men traveling in a motor car, who blocked their path and opened fire on all three occupants of the motorcycle.

Jordan received multiple gunshot wounds, while Hemmings who is said to be the prime target was shot some ten times and died on the spot. he female student escaped with only a graze.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Hemmings and the 6-year-old boy were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where Jordan also died while undergoing treatment.
