WAVES – Delawness’ Solo Art Exhibition Comes to Life in Jamaica

Solo-Art-Exhibition

Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)  – Patrons witnessed a burst of inspiration and intense beauty when one of Jamaica’ top graphic designer and Illustrator, Lawrence L. Deacon, hosted his Premiere Solo Art Exhibition entitled “Waves” at the prestigious Montego Bay Convention Center on March 20, 2018.

As you entered the rather large showcase room, you instantly felt a sense of claustrophobic-ness – the lighting was dark and the atmosphere felt heavy, until that is, you walked over to one of the vibrantly colorful, eye-popping art pieces spread out throughout the room.  Each piece had its own individual placed strobe light reveling powerful emotional pieces full of creativity and freedom. The stunning contrast between the atmosphere and the art created the space for questions, a need for deeper explanations while stimulating conversation about dreams, depression and artistic expression. Deacon fearlessly exposed his deepest pains while simultaneously celebrated his triumphs. His pieces somehow found a way to dance without moving while taking on an almost hypnotic feeling of love and warmth. Crazy right? It’s just one of those things you have witness for yourself.

But you’ll have to wait because his next exhibition has not yet been announced, luckily plans are in the works to have another showcase in Kingston, Jamaica in the near future. As part of the Montego Bay Exhibition/ Brand launch, Mr. Deacon made available for sale his limited Edition Delawness Spring / Summer Waves merchandise and patrons were treated to a live performance by reggae sensations Avante with music by Selecta Pelps.

His six pieces of colorful mixed media art were created using a digital medium on PVC. “I’m a graphic designer/illustrator and as such all my work comes from me using the traditional medium which involves me drawing all my pieces then digitizing them to color,” said Deacon.

When asked what he wanted to say to young artist Deacon replied, “Just want to tell everyone thanks again for coming out and making it a wonderful experience both for me as an artist to successfully launched my brand and stage my first solo exhibition and also for the persons who attended.” “To make every other young aspiring artist like myself to be in tune with believing in themselves stay humble and always create their own waves.”

The Jamaican native has already made a name for himself by creating masterpieces in branding solutions and illustrations for Caribbean Maritime University, CMA CGM, Chronixx, TiMe 22, Coco Jones, Trackdilla, Dj Spade (Drake Tour DJ), KingstonToLA magazine and several international companies. His most notable being the Netherlands, Time 22, on developing their brand identity. “It was my first job designing something that would be printed in grade 5 titanium” beamed the humble rising star.
