Clarendon, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) –  Masked gunmen entered the Hayes Police Station in Clarendon on Sunday April 23, and prepared to challenge the station guard in a gun battle, who opened fire on them before they fled the station.

Reports in to Mckoy’s News are that a white Toyota Axio motorcar with no license registration plate affixed entered the Hayes Police Station compound with three men on board.

Two masked men alighted from the motorcar – one of the men armed with an assault rifle, the other man armed with a handgun. The man with the riffle prepared the gun in an attempt to open fire on the Police Station. They were challenged by the station guard who fired four (4) rounds from his service Glock pistol at the men.

The man with the riffle made his escape in the waiting motorcar, and the other man with the handgun jumped the perimeter wall and escaped on foot in the area.

It is not known if any of the men were hit by the gunfire.

One 5.56 millimeter round was found on the scene.

Investigations and processing continues.
